Samsung collaborated with Korean giant Naver for developing next-generation AI chips

Samsung, the global head in advanced memory technology notified on Tuesday that it has collaborated with the Naver Corporation, an international internet giant to invent next-generation artificial intelligence (AI) chips, in a measure to improve the efficiency of processing large AI data. This is a comprehensive partnership with Naver, the global internet giant that provides top-notch AI experience.

Samsung stated that this cooperation with Naver will result in great synergies in developing semiconductors that too of high efficiency and incredible speed for all Artificial Intelligence calculations.

Moreover, the companies claim that the recent trends in Artificial Intelligence have led to epidemic growth in data volumes. However, the present computational technologies have performance and efficiency limitations to adequately manage the huge work assigned to them. So, NAVER and Samsung have decided to join hands and work together to make AI-optimized semiconductor chips and other solutions.

Samsung collab with Naver

Inventing this type of solution needs an extensive convergence of semiconductor and AI fields. Samsung is incorporating its semiconductor design and manufacturing expertise with NAVER’s experience in the development and confirmation of AI algorithms and AI-driven benefits, to create solutions that take the performance and power efficiency of large-scale AI to a great level.

For many years, Samsung has been instructing memory and storage that supports high-speed data processing in Artificial Intelligence apps, from computational storage (SmartSSD) and PIM-enabled high bandwidth memory (HBM-PIM) to next-generation memory supporting the Compute Express Link (CXL) interface. Samsung will join hands with NAVER to upgrade these memory technologies in promoting large-scale AI services.

Naver will continue to refine HyperCLOVA, a hyper-scale language model with over 200 billion parameters while improving its compression algorithms to create a more simplified model that significantly increases computation efficiency.

“Uniting our gained knowledge and know-how will Hyper CLOVA work with Samsung’s semiconductor-making process, we consider that we can make an absolutely new type of solution that can reasonably solve all the challenges of today’s AI technologies,” said the Head of Naver Corporation.
