Bernard Arnault surpassed Elon Musk to be the World’s most richest person

Bernard Arnault, the french tycoon, CEO, and Chairman of Louis Vuitton or LVMH, have recently pipped Elon Musk to be the richest person in the world. On the list of Forbes real-time billionaires, Bernard Arnault has secured his place on the 1st rank with a wealth of $188.6 billion; however, Tesla’s Elon Musk slipped to the 2nd rank with a total worth of $178.6 billion. In the past few years,  the French tycoon has stayed in the top 10 of the world’s richest list, but his rank was below Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg.

About Bernard Arnault:

He is the Co-founder, CEO, and Chairman of LVMH Louis Vuitton SE, which is the world’s biggest luxury goods company. Arnault is building a dynasty of his own within LVMH. He has 5 children from 2 marriages, all working in LVMH or under one of its labels. Arnault’s second child, Antoine, got an extended position at Christian Dior SE holding company.

Arnault, who is 73 years old, makes a less public appearance and is also not personally active on any social media platform. Over the past 3 decades, Arnault has diverted LVMH into a luxury goods powerhouse with 75 labels selling wine, spirits, fashion, leather goods, perfumes, cosmetics, jewellery, luxury travel and hotel stays. He settled China’s first Louis Vuitton store in Beijing.

Earlier this year, LVMH lifted the age limit of its CEO by allowing Arnault to stay at the helm until he’s 80, which is a sign that he wants to stay in charge for a little longer time. In his pursuit of staying under the radar, Arnault said last month that LVMH sold its personal jet. Twitter accounts track the aircraft of billionaires in a shot to humiliate them about carbon emissions, and this issue became a hot topic in France, with some politicians suggesting banning or taxing private planes.

Arnault is also a huge fan of art – which led to the opening of the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris’s Bois de Boulogne. That place is a massive private art gallery designed by Frank Gehry. It shelters LVMH’s corporate employees as well as Arnault’s themselves.
